The Eudora Welty House & Garden Visitor Center Signage
The Eudora Welty House & Garden Visitor Center sits next door to the Welty house in the heart of the historic Belhaven neighborhood. Since its opening, visitors have struggled to find their way to the visitor center to start their tour. I worked with the staff to come up with wayfinding solutions that not only made sense but also matched the brand identity of the site.
In the end, I created a new Visitor Center sign that sits a few feet back from the front sidewalk visible for both drivers and walkers. The 24” x 24” sign near the door was unshakable, so a vinyl cover was added with further wayfinding information and site hours. Ivory street numbers were added above the doorway in one of the two signature fonts used at the site.
